Alumni Committee

The Alumni Committee is responsible for identifying opportunities to engage alumni of the Oley Valley School District.    It is also responsible for overseeing those engagement opportunities by facilitating communication, participation, volunteerism, and philanthropy among alumni. The Committee meets as often as necessary to carry out its duties and accomplish its goals.

Community Outreach Committee

The Committee is focused on the advancement of the Foundation’s mission by encouraging and facilitating community involvement, fostering community outreach initiatives, partnering with area businesses and organizations to establish and maintain relationships, and bringing the Foundation and community together in mutual interest. The Committee identifies potential opportunities for community partnership, serves as liaisons between the Foundation and area businesses and organizations, advises and updates the Board on opportunities and recommendations for support and ongoing initiatives. The Committee meets as often as necessary to carry outs its duties and accomplish its goals.

Development Committee

The Development Committee is responsible for coordination/running the various fundraising activities of the Foundation. These activities include the Foundation’s Annual Campaign, Stone Auction, Cornhole Tournament, Zackon 5K, and Golf Tournament. It is also responsible for identifying other fundraising events as appropriate. The Committee is also responsible for identifying potential contributors and coordinating efforts to connect with these potential contributors. Sub-committees may be formed to run/coordinate these events. The Committee meets as often as necessary to carry out its duties and accomplish its goals. 


 Cornhole Tournament Sub-Committee

This Sub-Committee is responsible for planning and coordination of the Cornhole Tournament. Responsibilities include soliciting business sponsorships for the event and for marketing the event to attract participants. In addition, the Sub-Committee organizes the volunteers for the event. The Committee meets as needed during the planning phase of the event. 

Dr. Zackon 5K Sub-Committee

This Sub-Committee is responsible for planning and coordination of the Dr. Jeffery Zackon 5K, which includes requesting permission of Oley Township to have the event; and the hiring of and coordination with an organization to time the 5K race. The Committee is responsible for soliciting business sponsorships for the event and for marketing the event to attract participants. In addition, the Committee organizes the volunteers for the event. The Committee meets as needed during the planning phase of the event.

Golf Tournament Sub-Committee

This Sub-Committee is responsible for planning and coordinating the Golf Tournament, which includes scheduling a golf course to hold the event. The committee is also responsible for soliciting business sponsorships for the event, obtaining prizes for the winners, raffles and silent auction, as well as marketing the event to attract participants. In addition, the committee organizes the volunteers for the event. The committee meets as needed during the planning phase of the event.


Distinguished Alumni & Service Awards Committee

The Distinguished Alumni & Service Awards Committee is chaired by a Foundation member and consists of Foundation, community (C), and school district (SD) members. The committee is responsible for the annual selection process to determine distinguished Oley Valley School District (OVSD) alumni(s) who will be recognized for the achievements and individuals who have provided outstanding service to the OVSD. The process includes seeking nominations, reviewing nominations received, and selecting the annual recipients. The Committee works with the OVSD to present the annual awards program. The Committee will meet at least one time each year to review nominations and determine award recipients. Additional meetings will be scheduled as needed to carry out the Committee's duties and accomplish its goals. 

Marketing / Public Relations Committee

The marketing and public relations committee is responsible for setting the overall marketing and social media direction of the Foundation.  It is also responsible for supporting the Executive Director in maintaining the Foundation website, publishing the Foundation newsletter, managing the Foundation’s social media accounts, developing advertisements and communications, and any other marketing activities as the Foundation and Committee deem appropriate.  The Committee meets as often as necessary to carry out its duties and accomplish its goals.
